BOO! It’s Spooky season! If you’re in Niagara for Halloween, you might be wondering which haunted attractions and ghostly sights to see first. We put together 10 of the most frightening things to see and do that will leave you screaming for more!

1. Howells Family Pumpkin Farm

Howells Pumpkin Farm is a seasonal agritourism destination, with Fall bringing all the pumpkins you can imagine! 

Loads of attractions for the entire family, including the Pumpkin-O-Saurus train ride, a Spooky Barn haunted house, Apple Blaster Cannons and Pumpkin Slingshot. 

Lots to feast on like farm fresh lemonade, homemade pumpkin donuts, a variety of yummy poutines to choose from and a Beer and Wine Garden with local craft beer, wines and ciders!

2. Frightmare In The Falls

Frightmare in the Falls is Canada’s Largest Horror Event, taking place at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre on Friday, October 27 to Sunday, October 29, 2023.

The event will feature more than 50,000 square feet of all things horror including memorabilia, panels, celebrities, movies, autographs, displays, movie cars, cosplay, special effects props & much more!

3. Fort George Ghost Tours

Fort George is a historic citadel located in Niagara’s picturesque village Niagara-on-the-Lake. Legend has it ghosts wander around the sleepy town when everyone’s asleep. People have reported paranormal sightings near Fort George. 

Spirits like a slight girl named Sarah Ann and a domineering ghost who people refer to as “The Watcher” are the permanent residents of this sinister place. Explore the grounds after dark on Fort George Ghost Tours to celebrate Halloween to the fullest!

4. Haunt Manor

Haunt Manor is Canada’s Largest Haunted Halloween attraction that includes a theatrical hayride, a corn maze, a cedar maze, and six separately-themed haunted houses. The theme changes annually to accommodate the needs of horror buffs.

This 220-year-old farm is located just west of the notable Battle of Lundy’s Lane graveyard, where a vicious battle was fought in 1812. Ghosts of the Pew Family who lived and died here are known to lurk about the haunted farm. 

5. Drummond Hill Cemetery Tours

A tour guide in a Halloween costume will lead you through these historic cemeteries where you’ll stumble upon melodramatic enactments of the people who used to reside there. Some people believe that this cemetery is haunted.

This cemetery is of historical importance because it was ground zero for the Battle of Lundy’s Lane of the War of 1812. More than 800 soldiers died in this horrific battle. The graves in this cemetery mark the place where many of those bodies were buried. 

6. Nightmares Fear Factory

Nightmares Fear Factory is a haunted house in Niagara Falls. It is a horror aficionado’s dream — because it comes with a story and revenge! Legend has it that this haunted house marks the site of an old casket factory.

The factory’s owner, Abraham Mortimer, dedicated himself to his work during the day and was tortured and harassed by thugs and bullies at night. Mortimer would drive them away, but they always came back to pull more pranks.

One night, those thugs upended a pile of caskets while Mortimer was chasing them off. Mortimer crumbled under the weight of the wooden coffins and died. They say that his ghost still skulks around the property, driving anyone away who dares come close.

This haunted house is one of the spookiest ways to make your Halloween in Niagara Falls perfect! Thousands visit this attraction to prove how bold they are. Thousands wimp out before they even make it to the end. 

7. All Hallows’ Eve at Fort Erie

Fort Erie is a Halloween classic. This ancient fort is where Canada’s bloodiest battle took place. You will discover history with a little bit of mystery.

Get the most out of this chilly season by wandering through this ghostly fort with stories that will chill you to the bone. Staff in spooky costumes will walk you through Halloween traditions while narrating haunting tales. The whole experience is delightfully scary due to the dim glow of candlelight and torches.

8. Screaming Tunnel

Imagine standing in the middle of a moss-covered tunnel cloaked in nothing but darkness. You’re holding a single burning match and then you hear it… the hairs on your arms stand up as the entire tunnel is filled with her piercing screams. The burning match is extinguished by a gust of wind, but only you know it wasn’t the wind…. you know it was something else. You’re now standing in the dark tunnel paralyzed by fear, all you know is that you’re not alone…

9. Ghost Blasters Dark Ride

The Ghost Blasters Dark Ride is a popular tourist attraction for Halloween in Niagara Falls. You can find this fun ride inside the Great Canadian Midway at the bottom of Clifton Hill. Halloween animatronics, animated props, and spooky set pieces help make this ride truly interactive!

This black-light adventure starts with a haunting welcome by an army of the dead as you enter Bleakstone Manor. Ghosts, ghouls, goblins, and all things deadly pounce upon you from every which way in pitch-black darkness.

10. The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Let’s do the Time Warp again! The OG audience partici-(SAY IT!)-pation film! No Halloween weekend would be complete without The Rocky Horror Picture Show, playing at the Film House at the Niagara Performing Arts Centre.

Presented in partnership with PRIDE Niagara, your humble narrator for the evening will guide you through the call backs, when to throw props and all the dance moves. Dress up in your Rocky Horror finery.
